A sombre landscape featuring the dark contemplation of a winged genius sitting idly amid parts of a mysterious symbol of the world of art and science.

Ever since its creation in 1514, Albrecht Dürer’s engraving “Melancholia I” has fascinated many artists, thinkers, and scientists. It notably features an enigmatic geometric solid, a polyhedron or a type of rhombohedron, which is the immediate inspiration for the DÜRER collection.

Regarded by many as a depiction of the legendary philosopher’s stone, for the jewelry creator, it primarily represents the synergy between art and science.

The collection’s pieces are crafted from a proprietary blend of noble concrete developed by Monika Kreft in her own workshop. The main component of this blend is marble.

Artificial stone is paired with natural brass in a beautiful golden color. The contrast between the raw geometric stone and the shiny metal creates an intriguing composition in each collection piece.

ART WEAR

Its strong and heavy, almost brutalist form makes it difficult to imagine wearing it every day. However, any appearance in any of its elements will certainly make a stunning impression.

Brass in jewelry is not varnished. Thanks to this, it retains its health and antibacterial properties. However, this also means that it will oxidize and change color on contact with skin and the environment. Concrete has the properties of stone, which is its main component, in this case it will behave like marble. Its temperature will correspond to the ambient temperature. It may chip or crack upon impact. Despite impregnation, stains will appear on it in contact with coloring liquids (wine, coffee). However, it will be possible to repair it.

DÜRER STYLING

Brutalist jewelry will look great with a smooth, simple wardrobe that won’t compete with it. Black, white and gray will be the perfect solution.

BRACELET

The shape of  heavy bracelet was created from a section of Dürer’s solid. By cutting it with a plane not parallel to the base, it gained a strong, dynamic expression. The austerity of concrete is broken by a brass finish on the inside, which makes the bracelet shine. The most daring proposition from the entire collection, mainly due to its size and weight.
